About the Programme
B.Voc. (Agri-Business & Agrarian Entrepreneurship) course is being run by the college under DeenDayalUpadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra Scheme of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The first year of the course is dedicated to imparting knowledge and skills in Dairy Business, second year to Poultry Business, and third year to Fisheries Business. The course has multiple exit options after the successful completion of the first year (Diploma), second year (Advanced Diploma) and third year (Degree). The programme curriculum has been designed in close consultation with industry experts and follows the Qualification Packs of the concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC). The curriculum includes general education and skill development components having extensive practical and on-the job training along with periodic industrial visits and industry interactions.
Job roles in the agri-business sector include Dairy Farm Supervisor, Dairy Entrepreneur, Poultry Farm Supervisor, Hatchery In-charge etc. Punjab & Haryana have an agriculture based economy. The course will provide a boost to the business angle of agriculture. It will help the students to become entrepreneurs by starting their own venture in the agriculture & allied sectors or work in:
- Dairy Farms
- Poultry Farms
- Fish Farms
Presently, the college has tie-ups for curriculum development and industrial training with two Government organizations, namely, Central Poultry Development Organization (Northern Region) and Punjab Dairy Development Board.
Central Poultry Development Organization (Northern Region) is a Central Government organization which guides and oversees the development of poultry farms in the region. They have a spacious farm spread over 15 acres providing services like chick hatching & breeding, Feeding Management of all Poultry Productions. It also provides alternate poultry farming for Duck, Turkey & Quail.
Punjab Dairy Development Board is a Punjab Govt. organization which provides training in various aspects of dairy farming such as milk production, milk processing and dairy marketing and livestock management.
Any student who has passed the 10+2 examination (any stream) under 10+2+3 system of education of a recognized University/Board/Council or any other examination recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission. Further, students who have already acquired NSQF certification Level 4 in a particular industry sector are also eligible for admission.
