About the Department

The department of Sanskrit was started in 1973. Along with the teaching of Sanskrit as an elective subject in B.A., the department has also holding free classes to impart the knowledge scriptures like Bhagwat Geeta by teaching Sanskrit. The department also holds declamation and debate contests in Sanskrit to promote and preserve the language and cultural. There is didactic quality in all of Sanskrit literature, but it is most pronounced in fairy tales and fables. Characteristically, different stories are inserted within the framework of a single narration. The character of the tale themselves tell stories until there are many levels to the narrative. The department was setup with an aim for promotion and growth of Sanskrit. The department has been conceived with the ambitious objective of developing of expertise and skilled manpower in Sanskrit and the aim and vision of the department of Sanskrit is to provide a platform for students to gain insightfulness in to corpus of Sanskrit and to utilize their skill in life.
