Conceived in the revered memory of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Ji, a visionary who dreamed of making Chandigarh a center for both education and Sanatanist ideals, the college was established to bring together knowledge, culture, and spirituality. His dream materialized under the leadership of Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, former Education, Home, and Finance Minister of Punjab, along with a group of dedicated educators, lawyers, and public figures committed to the cause of education.

The foundation of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College was laid with the motto ‘Firm in Faith and Broad in Mind’, emphasizing not only academic excellence but also the nurturing of individuals who are intellectually sharp, ethically grounded, and capable of contributing positively to society. The college’s journey has been marked by the steady hands of leaders like Prof. Roshan Lal Verma Ji, the first principal, who gave everything to build this institution. Alongside him, Ms. Kaushalya Devi Verma Ji also made a monumental contribution by donating her entire property, which formed a trust to support economically disadvantaged women with career-oriented training, free of cost.

The college’s legacy is also built on the continued progress made under various visionary leaders who steered the institution through significant milestones, earning recognition and awards from national bodies like the UGC and DBT, Government of India.
