About the Department

  • Established in 1979, the Postgraduate Department of Physics offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics, B.Sc. degree program under the regulations of NEP 2020 along with M.Sc. Physics and Ph.D.
  • We were granted the status of a Research Centre, by Panjab University in 2017 for conducting Ph.D. programme in Physics.
  • The department has received research grants under UGC, DST-SERB, DBT Builder schemes. The faculty is engaged in teaching and research in the frontier areas of Physics such as Materials Science, High Energy Physics, Non-linear Optics, Plasma Physics, Nuclear Physics etc.
