About the Department

The Department of Economics is as old as the college itself and has always been actively engaged in imparting quality and value based education in the field of Economics to facilitate students with excellent analytical skills. The department boasts of the finest quality of faculty, capable of competing and contributing professionally at the national and international levels. Over the years this department has achieved an enviable good name in the region as one of the best in its domain. We aspire to make a mark at the international levels. Another feather has been added to elaborate the stature of our glorious department. Our department has been allotted a Research Centre from the prestigious Panjab University w.e.f. September 2024.

Faculty & Staff Details

The Department of Economics at GGDSD College, Chandigarh stands as a beacon of academic excellence, comprising 22 distinguished faculty members. Our faculty represents a dynamic blend of experienced academicians and emerging researchers. Thirteen faculty members are doctoral degree holders, the remaining are majorly pursuing PhD from various universities. The faculty members have collectively published over 100 research papers in journals of repute; presented over 100 research papers at various national and international seminars and conferences and have 22 chapters published in various edited books. The faculty at the department have authored 12 books. With a zeal to learn and hone their skills they actively participated in over 140 workshops/ training programmes and FDPs. Some of our faculty members have successfully guided M.Phil. and Ph.D. scholars. The faculty has also undertaken research projects sponsored by UGC and ICSSR.
