The Post Graduate Department of Journalism & Mass Communication was started in the year 2004-05. Since its inception the department is growing continuously adding new dimensions and setting higher standards in media education. Our college is the first and only one in Chandigarh to start with journalism as elective subject at undergraduate level. The programs offered provide students with the analytical, methodological and practical competencies necessary for pursuing journalism as a career. Students are given live assignments so that they acquire technical and professional skills in our state-of-the-art Television and Radio studios.

Create radio productions and audio content, in studio. CO2. Plan and prepare interviews, scripts and reporting content for use in radio broadcasts CO3. It seeks to acquaint students with the expressive possibilities of various communication forms as also the nation building role of the various forms of legacy media. Course Outcomes: After successful completion of this course, the student should be able to have: 1. A broad-based notion of the philosophical underpinnings of Communication. 2. A deeper appreciation of the multi-faceted forms of expressive communication. 3. Understand the importance of Legacy Media in a democracy and its use for public discourse. Course Objectives: The course focuses on understanding basics of communication, Indian ethos in Communication and understanding of the Digital Medium. It seeks to achieve this mission by designing an interdisciplinary curriculum that respects the liberal arts tradition and exposes students to a variety of theoretical and practical experiences to become informed, engaged, and ethical global citizens. Students will become proficient in communicating critically, creatively, and ethically in diverse contexts and through multiple forms of online media. The course will comprise workshops in social media storytelling, practice with `live’ use of social media and interaction with professionals. In his lecture, Dr. Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and Sh. Sandeep Bhutoria explored the multifaceted dimensions of Indian Cinema, emphasizing its role as both entertainment and agenda-setting platform. He even highlighted the evolution of storytelling, while Mr. Bhutoria underscored cinema’s societal impact, engaging students in an insightful discourse on cultural narratives.
