7th CLA International Conference on “Digital Convergence and Innovation in Library Services” organized in virtual mode Chandigarh Librarians’ Association in collaboration with Post Graduate Government College for Girls-42, Chandigarh, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College – 32, Chandigarh organized 7th International Conference under the contemporary theme of “Digital Convergence and Innovation in Library Services” Online. The conference is being organized to create awareness about Digital Convergence and Innovation in Library Services. The world is embossed with new technologies, which has geared up libraries and information centers to provide better and faster ways to generate, print, and transport information. The conference aimed to enunciate and discuss the rapidly witnessing transformations in technology and innovative library services trans-world. Dr Preeti Sharda, Librarian of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42-C, Chandigarh, and Gurpreet Singh Sohal, Librarian of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College Sector 32, Chandigarh were organizing secretaries of the conference. Dr. Jaspal Kaur, Senior library professional welcomed the guests and the participants. Keynote speaker of the conference Prof M K Weeresinghe, Professor at Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka shared his talk about the importance of Libraries in the digital era. Prof Nisha Aggarwal, Principal of PGGCG 42, Chandigarh, Chief Guest of the inaugural session emphasized the strengthening of user-centric library services. Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal of GGDSD College, Chandigarh in his address held that with the emergent technologies the libraries have been able to extend their services beyond time and space limits. Sh Upkar Krishan Sharma, President, GGDSD College Society, Chandigarh congratulated the organizers for providing a platform to the LIS stakeholders. Prof Jagtar Singh, Former Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Chief Guest of the valedictory session, Dr. Singh encouraged the young and budding professionals to have active involvement in the profession. Dr(s). Kishor Chandra Satpathy, Chief Librarian, Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata; Dr(s). P Visakhi, Librarian, IISER Mohali and Dr(s). Akhtar Parvez, University Librarian, Maulana Azad National Urdu University Hyderabad chaired different technical sessions. Dr Shakil Ahmad, Lecturer, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Saudi Arabia; Mr. Ramesh Yernagula, Director, NASSDOC at Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi and Dr. Raj Kumar Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor at Central University of Punjab, Bathinda they delivered invited talks. Professionals and researchers from different parts of the country presented their papers related to main theme of the conference. Dr. SeemaVasishta, Sr. Librarian, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was rapporteur of the conference and Dr P Venkata Rao Fellow (KM) & Head, QMS Section, MGSIPAP, Chandigarh was the Conference Director. About 60 papers were received for the conference, which will be published as the conference proceedings and about 100 library professionals participated in the conference.
