Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MA Sociology First-Year

ADMISSION CRITERIA Merit Basis
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY Graduation with at Minimum 50% marks.

Candidates that have passed one of the following examinations from a Panjab University or any Indian University recognized by the Panjab University:

  • B.A. with Honours in Sociology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any stream with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
  • B.A. (General) in full subjects obtaining at least 45% marks in Sociology as an Elective subject.
  • Master’s degree in a subject other than Sociology obtaining at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
  • Reservations are granted as per the norms of the University and Govt. of India.
  • There shall be a relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC/ST/PwD candidates. Candidate with less than 45% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible.

    • Extra Weightage –

  • Candidates with Sociology (Hons.) will be rewarded an additional 15% weightage.
  • Candidates with an Bachelor’s degree from Panjab University will be awarded additional 5% weightage.
