About the Programme

Medical Lab Technology (MLT) is a branch of science or allied paramedical course that is concerned with the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of the diseases using clinical laboratory tests. The Medical Lab Technology (MLT) program deals with various diagnostics techniques which include collection of samples, tests, reports and documentation. In this program candidates will get the knowledge of operating various laboratory instruments, testing kits and apparatus and the ability to utilize computers for data handling and good practices of a diagnostic lab.

Healthcare sector is growing at a rapid pace in India. To keep up with this phase of growth, the industry requires skilled medical and allied healthcare workers. Medical lab workers fall under the category of allied healthcare workers. This course creates various opportunities for the Medical Laboratory Technician graduate. It also builds an overall expertise in performing medical laboratory tests. It mainly deals with diagnosis of diseases in patients referred by Doctors. MLT professionals perform various tests by collecting samples of urine, blood, saliva, stool, tissues and other body fluids. Around 60 – 70 % of decisions regarding patient’s discharge, treatment and further assessment are based on the medical laboratory test results. Medical laboratory technicians work under a pathologist at medical labs. These allied healthcare workers are commonly known as MLT (Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist) or MLA (Medical Laboratory Assistant). Their main task is to assist the pathologist in examining clinical specimen and arriving at a conclusion.

Eligibility

10+2 any discipline of the University/Board/ Council or examination of any other recognized university with not less than 45 % marks in aggregate
