Department of Information Technology
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department was founded in 1990 with the mission to provide ‘Degree Courses’ in the field of ‘Information Technology’ in order to create IT Professionals, thus developing hardware & software skills among students by enhancing their knowledge, awareness, self exploration and innovative approach towards application of information systems, automation and implementation of services. The vision of the Department is to provide the students best possible Teaching Environment and IT infrastructure including the facilities like well equipped labs with latest computer systems, provision of smart classes, availability of physical as well as online study material, online interactive learning, conducting academic/awareness programs and placement drives to make them excel in the science of computing technology.
The Department aims to enhance quality and effectiveness of education that inculcates skill development in students based on practical exposure by strengthening academia-industry linkages through collaboration with the reputed industries and research institutes. The Department runs Graduate, Post Graduate and Diploma courses. The Department has a team of highly competent staff (teaching and non-teaching), who are determined and dedicated to their responsibilities. The faculty of the department is well qualified and committed to their teaching duties. The primary motive is to stimulate the students to give their best and make them learn till perfection. The Department provides students with technically sound environment in a professional framework to gain knowledge, and understand the ongoing changes in the field of computing technology.
The Department assist sister concern colleges situated in different regions of Punjab by provision of hardware equipments, network facility and its maintenance. The Department also gives assistance to the allied departments such as Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Commerce, other Science/Arts Departments and Audio Visual Society. The Department, in agreement with UFV conducts Microsoft .Net classes for duration of six months.
