Department of History organized a webinar on Honour Killing & its Social Implications on 17th December, 2020 at 11.00 AM

On December 17, 2020 a webinar on “Honor Killing and its Social Implications” was organized by the Department of History, G.G.D.S.D. College, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal, G.G.D.S.D. College welcomed the Resource Person Prof. Anju Suri, Department of History and Dean of International Students, Panjab University, Chandigarh and the participants of the online webinar. Esteemed Prof. Anju Suri highlighted the reasons for heinous crime of Honor killing like female foeticide, girl infanticide, hypergamy, caste system, dowry and poverty. She also mentioned the solutions to eradicate this evil from the society by spreading the awareness among the masses. She further emphasized on the need to strengthen the role of judiciary and national legislation to curb this evil practice. The webinar was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. M. Pramod, Head Department of History, G.G.D.S.D College, Chandigarh. The webinar was attended by faculty, students and researchers from different colleges, universities and research institutions.
