Webinar to celebrate National Mathematics Day held at GGDSD College, Chandigarh
On December 22nd, 2020 a webinar on “Numbers: Fun & Facts” was organized by the Department of Mathematics, G.G.D.S.D. College, Sector-32, Chandigarh. The webinar was held on the occasion of National Mathematics Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal, G.G.D.S.D. College welcomed the Resource Person Dr. Ajay Kumar, Head, Department of Mathematics, IIT Jammu and the participants of the online webinar.
Dr. Ajay started his talk by discussing the immense contribution of Srinivasa Ramanujan in the field of Mathematics. Calendar problems, p-Queens puzzle, problems based on cryptography etc. discussed in this webinar were excellent examples based on application of mathematics.
The moderator for the session Dr. Sargam Wasu, Faculty, Department of Mathematics at GGDSD College, conducted the question-answer session between the students and Dr Ajay. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Puneet Sharma, Head, Department of Mathematics, G.G.D.S.D College, Chandigarh. The webinar was attended by faculty, students and researchers from different colleges, universities and research institutions. All in all, it was a valuable and illuminating session.
