Department of Statistics organizing a Webinar on ”Agricultural Bills” on 23rd December, 2020 The Department of Economics, GGDSD College, Chandigarh organised a webinar on ‘Agricultural Bills’. The guest speaker for the event was Shri Raman Kaplish an agricultural market expert. He superannuated from MARKFED as an Executive Director, after over 30 years in the sector. The speaker highlighted the relevance and importance of Agricultural sector and the flaws inhibiting the system. He delved in details of what necessitates these acts historically. He suggested, to increase the wellbeing or income the output or produce needs to be processed which can be either be done by cooperatives or industry. He also mentioned the experience with respect to cooperatives in Punjab has not been that good, thus he reiterated the necessity of cooperation between both the parties. The webinar was live streamed on the college’s official YouTube channel. More than 200 people attended the webinar.
