Interactive session on “Women Empowerment and Calm in Crisis” held on Women’s Day 08 March 2021

To boost the morale of women and cherish their accomplishments, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2021 through on-line mode. The celebration highlighted the theme of IWD 2021- “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID -19 world”. It was a day to applaud and appreciate the achievements of women in COVID pandemic. An interactive session on “Women Empowerment and Calm in Crisis” was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with Department of Hindi. On the occasion. Divine sisters B.K Anita and B.K Preeti were the guest speakers. About 101 participants registered for the session that lasted about 90 minutes and was attended by faculty, staff and students with great enthusiasm.   Opening address The webinar started with Women’s day greetings and introduction of the speakers by the IQAC Co-ordinator, Dr. Jasveen Dua, followed by the conduct of the entire programme by Dr. Pratibha Sharma, head of Hindi department. The participants were spellbound with her mesmerizing anchoring  and the inspirational talk.   Session -1 Calm in Crisis   The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on our lives. Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions. B.K Preeti, also an alumnus of the college gave an inspirational talk during the critical period. Learning to cope with stress in a healthy way can make us more resilient. She discussed the tips of overcoming anxiety and keeping calm and composed during period of crisis. Looking to the word CALM in a different way – Choice of right thoughts; Attitude for gratitude; Listening to inner voice and Meditation can help solve any kind of crisis.   Session -2 Women Empowerment   Women empowerment and its dire need during the prevailing periods was highlighted by B.K Anita, a senior Rojyoga teacher who has dedicated her life for the spiritual development of self and others. Motivating women to develop the ability to respond is the actual Women empowerment as specified by B.K Anita. In a male dominating society, it is important to set moral standards and values, which can be brought about by women by taking up the responsibility of changing the society. Take home message of the session for women was “Be the change and Lead the change”   Closing of the webinar The webinar ended with a brief meditation session and vote of thanks at the part of the organizers.
