Webinar on COVID-19: Transformation of Life Systems A Live Webinar on “COVID-19: Transformation of Life Sciences” is organized by Department of Biotechnology, GGDSD College, Sector-32, Chandigarh and Chandigarh Forum for Science and Technology Communication (CFSTC) today . Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal, GGDSD College welcomed the Resource Persons and participants to the online webinar. Sh Upkar Krishan Sharma, President, GGDSD College, Chandigarh in his presidential remarks discussed the role of Technology in education sector during pandemic. Prof R.C. Sobti, former Vice Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh and Central University, Lucknow introduced the concept of CFSTC and introduced the speakers. He talked about the impact of COVID-19 on the life systems and importance of innovative technology in the time of pandemic. Prof. N.K. Ganguli,Former DG, ICMR had formally inaugurated the webinar and shared his thoughts on Pandemic and given insights of role of society towards underprivileged during this tim He elaborated upon the safety measures to be a part of our life style as Covid 19 may stay in one or the othe form for long time.He gave overall view of vaccine development and iniatives taken by various governments and also ICMR. Dr Vikas Suri from the Department of community development PGIMER Chandigarh talked about do/dont practices to be followed for prevention of COVID-19. Dr Varidmala Jain, Trishla Foundation Prayagraj talk highlighted information related to pathogenesis, and prevention of corona virus. She explained the impact of virus on respiratory system and the way the disease progresses and impacts an individuals. Prof. Santosh Kumar from Kumaun University discussed the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on higher education. He discussed the role of ICT in imparting education during pandemic and the options to improve the shortcomings of this aspect He elaborately explained the ifs and buts in the online teaching. Prof S.K. Malhotra from Allahabad University had delivered an interesting talk on Impact of COVID-19 on environmental pollution and health systems. Prof. R.C. Sobti had talked about highlights of the webinar and discussed the transmission pattern of COVID-19 and new normal in pandemic by mentioning that how microbe has revolutionized the macro system making people to think afresh and innovate by treating challenges of covid 19 as opportunities to find ways to flourish in new world. The webinar was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Navneet Batra, Head, Dept of Biotechnology, GGDSD College, Chandigarh. The Webinar was attended by Faculty, students and researchers from different colleges, universities and research institutions.
